Most people in Addis hire a creative the same way: ask three friends, get one number, hope it works out. It usually costs more and takes longer than it should. This is a practical guide to doing it properly — what to ask for, how pricing actually works here, and how to write a brief that gets you the right person. Written by Klick Film & Design School, who train most of the people you’d be hiring.
The single biggest cause of a bad creative hire in Addis is that nobody wrote down the deliverable. “A video” is not a deliverable — it’s an argument waiting to happen three weeks later.
Before you contact anyone, write one sentence that answers all four of these:
If you can write that sentence, you can hire well. If you can’t, no amount of talent will save the job.
A showreel is the best ten seconds of five years. It tells you almost nothing about what someone will deliver for you next month.
This is the reason every profile on Klick Konnect shows real project work rather than a reel — you can do all of this before you send a single message.
Creative work in Addis is priced three ways, and knowing which one you’re in prevents most disputes:
What actually moves the number, in roughly this order: how many days, whose equipment (their camera, lights and audio versus yours — this is often the biggest single line), how fast you need it, how many revisions, whether they travel outside Addis, and who owns the raw files afterwards.
We don’t publish fixed rates, on purpose. A quoted range would be wrong for half the jobs it’s applied to, and in Addis it would quietly become a ceiling for people who are worth more.
Do this instead: post the job with the budget you actually have, in ETB, even as a rough range. Jobs on Klick Konnect that show a budget get noticeably more applicants than jobs that don’t — and the replies tell you the real market rate for your specific job in a day, which is better information than any published figure.
Not after. Every one of these is a real argument that happens in Addis every week:
The best briefs in this city are short and specific. Something like:
“We’re opening a second branch in CMC on the 14th. We need a videographer for four hours from 3pm — the ribbon cutting, some guest interviews, and general footage of the space. What we want back is one 60-second edit for Instagram and one 15-second cut for Stories, within a week, with two rounds of changes. Bring your own audio. Budget is around 6,000 ETB, tell us if that’s off.”
That paragraph will get you better applicants than a page of description. It answers the four questions from section one, names the money, and gives them permission to push back on it.
Two more things: send visual references — three links to videos you like beats a thousand words about “modern and clean”. And say what it’s for. A video for investors and a video for TikTok are shot differently, and a good creative will tell you so if you tell them.
People mix these up constantly, and hire the wrong one:
For a launch event you often need two people, not one: someone on camera, and someone to edit afterwards. Budget for both.

Every post is reviewed the same day. Once it’s live the alert goes out on Telegram immediately, so applications usually start arriving within hours.
No. Fill in the web form and we contact you on the phone number or email you give us. Telegram is how the creatives receive the job — it isn’t something you need to install.
Open a profile and look at the work before you contact anyone. Beyond that: most creatives here trained at Klick Film & Design School, so we know who taught them, and confirmed profiles carry a Klick verified badge.
